Akron, Ohio

Memorial Station is a new urban development, and as envisioned, is one step in an overall plan for development along the Ohio-Erie canal corridor. The site is organized around a traditional street grid with two access points along Hickory Street. The single-family detached house lots are generally smaller to allow for a large common or lawn space to be provided at the heart of the project. This area allows for social interaction for the entire neighborhood and itÕs surrounds. Gracious sidewalks and street lamps are provided throughout to encourage walking and to foster a sense of community. A civic or public space is provided at the entrance to Hickory Street the most visible corner of the site. This serves as a visual welcome to the northern terminus of Canal Town.
